Q     What are the advantages of storing a garment in a That Special Moment Box in comparison to keeping it on a hanger covered with plastic or paper or even in a vacuum sealed bag?

A     Millions of people all over the world use one of these five ways to store their wedding dress or special fabric / dress:

The plastic covers let light in which causes the colour to fade, they do not allow for humidity changes leading to mould and condensation forming and these covers actually disintegrate themselves over the years which leads to particles dropping onto your dress. The hanger causes stress on the seams and shape.

All standard cardboard boxes contain acid that passes into the dress fabric causing discolouration or yellowing. Storing items in a wardrobe, drawer, suitcase or bag will all have an effect on the fabric of a dress specifically if it comes into direct contact with it.

Always keep a wedding dress separate and surround it in an acid-free medium, just like a That Special Moment Box.

Q     Why is it important to store garments in acid-free environments?

A     If an acidic product as is found in normal cardboard boxes comes into contact with textiles such as your beautiful wedding dress, the acid will migrate through onto the fabric, causing permanent damage and decay. This is why it is so very important to use a top quality acid-free product like That Special Moment. All That Special Moment’s beautiful products are acid-free after thorough laboratory analysis and testing.

Q     How can you prove that your products are truly acid-free?

A     The PH of That Special Moment certifies that our product is acid-free. The pH scale is the standard for measurement of acidity and alkalinity. It runs from 1 to 14 with each number representing a ten-fold increase in strength; pH neutral is 7. Acid-free products have a pH factor of 7 or above. All That Special Moment’s boxes and tissue paper are above the pH factor of 8.

Q     How will storing my garment in your box protect it from discolouration such as yellowing?

A     The yellowing of textiles on storage can be caused by different factors. Phenolic yellowing, for example, is caused by the action of nitrogen oxides on yellowable phenols. This type of yellowing can occur during the storage of textiles when antioxidants of the hindered phenol type, such as Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) or natural phenolic substances, originating from the wood, are present in packaging materials such as plastic and cardboard. In testing, That Special Moment board and tissue paper were found not to cause phenolic yellowing.
Some boards may be acidic and this can lead to damage and yellowing of textiles. That Special Moment products will assist with the prevention against yellowing, colour fading and strength deterioration of fabric stored in the box because of the acid-free material used.

Q     What do I do once I receive the box?

WHEN STORING:
Once you receive your That Special Moment Box, wrap your garment in the acid-free tissue paper supplied and fold gently before placing it in the box.
Because of the top quality materials used, That Special Moment’s boxes should be sturdy enough to eliminate light, protect from dust as well as insects. The fitted lid will protect the contents from being exposed because there are no gaps between the lid and base. When the dress is gently placed in your That Special Moment Box, just close the lid. Now place your That Special Moment Box in a dry cupboard away from light and heat.

AFTER STORING:

That Special Moment advises you to check to ensure that your dress is correctly stored every six months. Also, unpack the dress and repack it every 12 months, which can prevent permanent creasing.

Q     What do I do when I want to use the garment after it has been stored for some time in the That Special Moment Box?

A     All you need to do is remove the garment from the box and have it pressed. Having it properly dry cleaned would also be recommended.

Q     Is the That Special Moment Box dust proof?

A     Provided that you have your dress dry cleaned and that you wrap it in the tissue paper and store it under safe conditions, looking after the dress every six months or so, it should avoid dust gathering on it completely.

Q     Will the That Special Moment Box prevent insects from getting to the garment?

A     Yes. Provided that you have your dress dry cleaned, that you wrap it in the tissue paper, that you store it in suitable conditions and that every six months or so, you look after your dress, insects should be avoided completely.

Q     Does my box arrive with acid-free tissue paper?

A     Your That Special Moment Preservation Storage Box also includes four sheets of That Special Moment acid-free tissue paper which is ample to thoroughly cover and protect a standard sized dress.

Q     How do I know that my dress will fit inside the box as there is only one size?

A     After thorough testing, That Special Moment has ensured the box is sizable enough to fit a large sized wedding dress.

Q   My best friend is getting married in two and a half months. Can I order her a box now and have it delivered to her home in three months time?

A   Absolutely. It's the perfect wedding gift for the bride. That Special Moment has created a "Gift Certificate" in the TSM online shop which will enable you as a customer to purchase the TSM box and have it personalised for your friend. You can print out the "Gift Certificate" for her and have that given to her in an envelope as a present on her wedding day. When she comes back from her honeymoon, all she needs to do is accept delivery on the TSM website and the box will arrive within a maximum of four weeks, anywhere in the world.

Q How quickly will I receive my box order?

A   You'll receive your delivery within two weeks in South Africa and within three weeks of ordering your That Special Moment Box, anywhere in the world.
